Dakota Wizards News Release

BISMARCK, N.D., August 6, 2009 - The Dakota Wizards of the NBA Development League announced today that a familiar face will once again be on the bench, as former Wizards standout player and coach Kevin Rice has been named as an assistant coach under new head coach Rory White.

"Bringing Kevin back is great because he's familiar with the organization," said White. "He's a proven winner. I remember him when I coached against the Wizards when he was still playing and if he can help our guys to play as hard as he did, we'll have an excellent season."

Rice has won three championships with the Wizards, twice as a player, in the IBA in 2000-2001 and the CBA in 2002-2003, and most recently as an assistant under Dave Joerger during the 2006-2007 NBA D-League season. Last season, Rice was the assistant under former Wizards coach Duane Ticknor. A former Utah State University player, Rice has a long list of achievements, mostly in the defensive column, winning the CBA defensive player of the year in 2002-2003.

"It's great to be able to stay here in Bismarck because it's like my home," said Rice. "I am looking forward to learning from Rory as well as teaching our players. I love the Wizards family and am just looking forward to helping bring back another championship to the Civic Center."
